ABOUT TRIPWIRE Welcome to TRIPWIRE on the Web.
From 1992 to 2003, TRIPWIRE was Britain's best comics and related media magazine, interviewing everybody from Alan Moore to Will Eisner, Frank Miller to Joe Kubert, James Robinson to Peter Milligan. It also included columns written by a selection of writers who would become industry names, like Mark Millar, Grant Morrison and Warren Ellis. We published 49 issues and a 10th anniversary book, garnering a reputation for intelligent features, unique writing, honest reviews and commentary of the industry. Now after a four year break, TRIPWIRE is back as a once a year Annual. This year's publication is 132 pages, full colour US magazine format. It's a pretty diverse mix:
* Celebrating 20 Years of Hellblazer; * Books about comic history you must read; * Exclusive Alan Moore interview; * Heroes feature with Jeph Loeb, Bryan Fuller and Tim Sale; * 30 Years of Judge Dredd; * Grendel's 25th anniversary; * The Power List: 25 people of influence in comics and related fields; * 300 DVD feature with Frank Miller, Zach Snyder, Gerard Butler and David Wenham; * Hellboy feature with Mike Mignola, Duncan Fegredo, Scott Allie and Hellboy Animated's Tad Stones (including some pencils from Hellboy: Darkness Calls by Fegredo); * Exclusive Mike Carey interview; * Frank Miller on Sin City 2 and 300; * Paul Cornell talking about Doctor Who, Wisdom and more; * London's booming film post-production industry; * Bongo Comics and Matt Groening interview; * 21 pages of strip and comic art material, Stripwire, featuring Roger Langridge, Frazer Irving, Sean Phillips, Daniel Goodbrey and more; * Graphic novels you probably haven't read but should have; * What is Manga feature; * 30 Days of Night movie feature interviewing its comic book writer Steve Niles and director David Slade
Each summer, the TRIPWIRE Annual will act as a reflection of the industry, looking at what's gone before and what is coming up, focusing on the crossover between comics, movies, animation, wherever they intersect. We're already planning 2008's Annual which will feature things like Dark Knight, the return of Futurama, Indiana Jones 4, a spotlight on the fantasy and fiction of Michael Moorcock and so much more.
Once the Annual is published officially (August 2007) we will start updating the web site at regular intervals and include interviews and features you won't find anywhere else. For our opening shot, here's a sampler of this year's Annual: excerpts from our interviews with author Mike Carey and Dark Horse editor Carl Horn and the full conversation with Bongo's chief writer Ian Boothby.
We will be at the San Diego Comic Con. We host a panel on Thursday 26th July in Room 10 at 4pm so feel free to pop by. Also, a select number of retailers will be selling the Annual early at the show (IDW, Top Shelf, Stuart Ng Books and Bud Plant) so if you are there and want a copy, by all means get one!
Keep checking this site for updated content and enjoy!
